The "links" gadget can be used in many ways. You can use Links as a way to share your favorite websites, or link to documents if you have site such as dropbox, google docs or keepandshare.com.
But another way to use links is to hide your posts, and Link them on the side bar in any order you choose! Each post has its own URL that can be linked to.
Go to Design -Add a Gadget - Links
Copy and paste the post's url into the url box and give your link a name, the title of the post! You will notice the arrows on the left which gives you the option to decide how to order your links to posts.
Why is this important? You can set your lessons as posts in the order you like.

One thing to note...If you want the home post to stay visible, it must be timed as the most recent post. You can either keep updating the home post, but it is just as easy to set the time in new posts to be earlier.
Let's try it!
Click New Post. Create a post, time stamp it earlier than home post. Publish. Copy url. Create a new link for that post with the Title. Save and done!
Sometimes you want you posts to be kept by the time stamp.
